Once upon a time not Now

Going away, miles and miles away, seeing and living a city like London, changed me a lot. I am not the same, I am not resamble her indeed, I turned into another person. This simple thought could be a matter of fact, 4 years in the city, 4 years usually makes people different. Usually but this is not a rule. When I came back to Rome I discovered that some of whom I used to consider my friends are still, exactly the same. Same office, same job, same pub to meet the others, the same others, even the same drink. Nothing more? Any other news? Nothing at all, that's it. Their lives are still the same, as were frozen during this long time. They live what I define a "low level" life, their conversation are on how to match the colour of shoes with bags and what is the most fashionable hair cut. Nothing more? i am afraid not. Their existences slip by "slow rhythm" and routine is a must. Nothing breaks their days, neither a big nor a small, little insignificant change. NOTHING. They listened with a mix of astonishment and admiration my experiences made by strong decisions, achievements and failures. They don't know, they cannot know that a "rift" in the chosen path can open a brand new view of what you want. They cannot understand that sometimes a failures can turn on an overwhelming victory. Four years ago I was not the same and now I can remember what I used to be with a bit of tenderness, always thanking the northern icy wind.

Il vento e' cambiato - The Wind of change

Jimmy Dean

"I cannot change the wind's direction but I can always modify my sails to reach my detsination" Jimmy Dean

This was the sentence I wrote on 13th September 2008, when I was waiting to come back in London to pursue my master in International Journalism. Two long years have passed and the wind has changed again. I can feel it, the wind now is directed toward south, toward Rome. I 'll be there in a few days. I am going to be back in the city I was born in. It observed my past and now it is ready to "write another chapter of my life". Some decisions need to be taken according to circumstances, and this time my life gave my the signs to be ready to use all the knowledge I have acquired in London and put them back in practice in Rome. It will be like returning to my past being a completely new person. I will go through storms with the wisdom of an expert sailor and will see every thing coloured in a new light. London and its wet streets, grey sky and the river Thames are going to stay in my memories for ever. London was for me both a mother and a step mother, sometimes it hugged me and other times put me in the corner, but I will never forget that in this city I have dreamed and I achieved my targets. There is a time for staying and a time to put all your stuff in your luggage but keeping in mind all things London gave to you. No one better than me knows that changing a life style for a while is good. Feelings and thoughts must be fed with a brand new "vital lymph", otherwise, sooner or later they are going to die.

Lo sguardo altrove - My glance elsewhere

Every morning I read so many Italian, English and American magazines and journals. Every morning, while I sip my cappuccino, my attention is focused on political and social issues, and of course crimes. Furthermore, I work for an organisation that sponsor documentary about addiction, suicide, and women condition in undeveloped countries...well yes all things you can not laugh at. Fortunately, I have got all the necessary antibodies to cope with, so I don't get carry away into sad news. In order to be far from "certain fires" it needs to look somewhere else. Today I will share with you my glance elsewhere.

Uomo bianco abbronzato - The white Tan man

How can an anonymous Mr James Titterton can get the attention of media? As you can see from the above pic, Mr Titterton is whiter than a vampire (just like the vast majority of Britons), so to be different he decided to mask off part of his chest, arms and legs, with various images - then had the outlines tanned on his skin. What will happen when his tan disappear? Well, he will run to his usual beauty shop and will ask for other sessions tan. I am sure the owner loves his body art... a lot!

La mucca all'autolavaggio - Automatic cow wash

Fonte Metro (http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/835852-automatic-cow-wash-aims-to-boost-milk-production)

The cow wash apparently boosts milk production by improving blood circulation within the animals, and stopping the spread of disease, according to the company. According to Metro, DeLaval ltd, has sold over 30,000 automatic cow washes in its home, of course country of Sweden and is now planning to bring the product to the UK. Vince 7.7 milioni e dopo un ora torna a lavorare - I am back to work after £7.7 win

Italians in London

English Version

You recognise italians in London if:

1 On the escalator they are to the left side, so if you are in hurry up it's impossible to go beyond.
2 If you are queuing in a very long line, they go to the beginning with a cheeky attitude saying :" I was here hours ago, I went just for a second to drink my coffee. In that way, they pretend to escape the queue.
3 They drink and eat breakfast on the bar's counter.
4 They don't match black suit with fuchsia and bordeaux stock.... Ever!
5 They don t vomit in every street corners when they are drunk. At least, some of they sing " Oh Sole mio.... is in Italy!" .... " Oh my sun is in Italy....."
6 Italian girls usually don't wear short skirt, t-shirt with deep V neck and summer sandal in the winter time, especially when thermometer signs - 10.
7 On the bus or into the tube, it's rare that they stand up in order to leave their seat for you. Moreover, they are not so gents when a lady needs to get off... on the contrary English boy almost every time say : "After you sweetheart".
8 When they sip an espresso made in a decent way, they go into ecstasies over it.
9 They usually are much more rude than English. It's true English are more polite... but they are kind of Polite and "fake".... on the other side Italian are impolite but more sincere than British one.
10 Finally, you can recognise Italians looking at the way they walk: half macho and half riders.

Dubito Ergo Sum - I doubt, therefore I am

I have always been sure that thinking is not a luxury, but an essential action in order to avoid what escape to an immediate logic and suddenly come back as a boomerang hitting you with all shades of missing considerations. If, as Hegel sustained, Devil conceals himself into details, the first duty for protect you is to doubt, not only from the others, but also from yourself. Choosing the difficult path of doubts is surely not the comfortable one but live your life following faint traces is the harshest sin a human can commit. Nothing must be takes for granted, if so we will turn from strategists to gregarious. The tangle of turbulent logics that doubts is going to instigate inevitably will force us to make evaluations. Who thinks, not for pleasure but because he/she has understood that without rejoining wrap to the main substance it is not only going to end up in obviousness but in a whirlwind of well more serious consequences, it is conscious that every choice must seriously consider manifold factors. Every sorted dilemma will compel us to return to doubt. This way represent a new challenge hidden under different clothes, a rebirth that lead to an evolutionary trial which will finish only with death either physical or mental. At least the importan thing is not to be born but reborn (Pablo Neruda)

C'est la vie - That's life

English Vesion is coming soon

Vendetta is a dish that must be served cold. It's always worthy to waiting for when reward is to watch the "dead body" of your enemy who floats on a river that you are observing to. Life can punish horrible person in a very significant and cruel way.

Sorridi, domani sarà peggio -Smile, tomorrow will be worse.

Ecco a voi Ladies and Geltments i postulati.

Corollari
1. Niente e' facile come sembra.

Despite positivity is now more than ever one of the essential parts of my personality sometime it's usefull to bear in mind Murphy's law.

Note for readers: If today your life is getting worst than yestarday and you feel in pessimist mood and you can not appreciate this sarcasm, please do not read this asserts... because your state of mind could be upset .

Now if you are ready, Ladies and Gentelmen ... there we go for you Murphy's law

If anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway
  • If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which something can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop
Corollary: It will be impossible to fix the fifth fault, without breaking the fix on one or more of the others
    Corollary sent by Sean Cheshire
  • Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse
  • If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something
  • Nature always sides with the hidden flaw
  • Mother nature is a bitch

  • The Murphy Philosophy
Smile . . . tomorrow will be worse.
I would deny all those senteces, but some of them are deeply true. They are wothy to be called law.

Cruel Intention

Sfortunatamente i miei istinti rimarranno intrappolati dalle convenzioni.

English Version

I am perfectly aware that there are rules set up to keep order. I am conscious that they are vital, but today I would like to forget all of them and express myself without any "social convention".

First of all I would knock to Adam's door, my neighbour. I would smile at him and after usual questions-answers: Hello. How are you? ...I am fine and you? Good thanks ( good manners couldn't be forget) I would throw all of his food went bad into our fridge on his head. After that I would say " Enjoy your food!", I would give him a big smile of satisfaction and I would come back to my place.

Secondly, I would meet Mrs V.' s daughter, who surprice ... surprice doesn't look like Cindy Crofford. To be honest she is very much alike to Cinderella's sisters in law, Griselda and Grimella, I mean a mix of them whit the addition of little dark mustache and only one line of eyesbrow. It's clear that she doesn't know the "extacy" of facial wap. Anyway, I would come close to her and after the usual few words suited to the occasion I would shout : "Instead of raking your kitchen garden , wearing your pajamas, you must go out and meet people. Perhaps in this way you will give up to stare at me like a sphinx, every time that I pass my front door". I would also add: "Could you please sent my regards to Mrs V., is she cooking gaelic food? As always food against vampires".

Finally I would cross the road and I would ring to the family living opposite. I would introduce myself propely and consequentially they will invite me to come in ( English applomb is a must, and I know they are English). When I am in, I would like to destroy their African bongos which every afternoon (from 2pm to 4 pm) annoy my ears a lot. As soon as I finish I would look at them and say "Do you know that the new trend is zen music?"

Unfortunately, my cruel intention will remain trapped by common sense. Today I will stay in front of my mirrow repeating Ralph Emerson's most popular sentence: " It's a basic rule of good manners to avoid exaggerations".

Born in Italy

Adesso devi ripulire i tubi!".

E santo cielo i pregiudizi serviranno pure a qualcosa... o no?

English version

That's right, I have to admit... when I want I am a bad girl. All started when Mrs V., my landlady, an eldery woman who looks like the witch of Whitesnow very much, with only the peculiarity of her disgusting gaelic smell, knocked at my door. Through her arrogance and unpolite way to speak she said: "Hurry up!Come with me in the kitchen". It was not 6 in the morining, but after my final project's efforts, I really wanted to get some relax and sleep longer. Obviusly, the eldery lady with heart made by gaelic decided in another way. So I followed her observing her slovenliness and her strong smell of sweat... yes my dear friends, summer is arrived in London as well. When we came to my kitchen, which I share with Adam, a French guy who is always in his room chatting loudly on the phone, Mrs V. stared at me with her little and nasty eyes then she told me: "My dear beautiful Italian, Don't you know this sink is broken? Do you know why? Becasue someone put pasta in the pipes. So... I spoke with Adams and he said he doesn't use pasta. It is a matter of fact that Italian use pasta every days. So, it's logic to understand you are the guilty one. Now, you have to sort out this problem." First of all I want to underline that every broken stuff in my appartment need to be fixed by the witch... ohps sorry by the landlady. Secondly, what did this idiot think? Perhaps she thought that with my busy life I got time to play with pasta and the sink... what am I 10?. When she finished her stupid complain, I gave her my most awuful glance and with calm I replied: "My dear Mrs V. You know Italian are famous around the word not only for pasta and pizza...". She understod quickly and with a forced smile she said: " Well my dear, this time I am going to fix this problem".

Sometimes bad prejudices help!Don't you think so?
